Corso Italia BIA
The Corso Italia BIA, located along St Clair between Dufferin and Lansdowne, has firmly stated that while they are in favour of transit improvements they are firmly opposed to a dedicated right-of-way.
The Corso Italia BIA has developed an alternative proposal for a "Conciliatory Approach to Public Transit Improvements". The design was developed by local architects, Brown + Storey, the same architects working with the City and the local community on the revitalization of College Street. The proposal has been endorsed by all of the five BIAs on St.Clair Avenue West, and has been presented to the Mayor, David Miller, and the four Councillors along the street. The BIAs believe that the proposal is a reasonable, cost-effective solution that takes into account the needs of the entire community, including businesses; residents; pedestrians; cyclists; customers; and, transit riders. The proposal is available on the Corso Italia site.
